I've decided to return back to this series and instead of using the linoleum printed phone which was too irregular and hard to print over the painting, I have decided to cut out rounded squares resembling a phones display. This familiar App shape will help make my body of work cohesive and I believe represents my intention more clearly. I have decided against the use of Mulberry paper, as it tears too easily and doesn't give the translucency I want. The next step I would like to take is to build a frame shadow box to lay Vellum over the paintings so that it has some space in between. I also will be using the laser paper cutting machine for a clean precise grid. The amount of Apps in each painting will also differ.
The use of Vellum now (seen above) wrinkles less and cuts with ease. It also blurs the background image further which I think better represents my concept; the often blurred/skewed representation of the world we see through our technologies, as well as hinting at the larger picture we miss out on. (Below) I create a make-shift shadow box to determine what effect the spacing will have as well as the distance between I want to aim for.
(Below) My frames have been made and painted and should resemble what the final series should look like. To avoid the wood colour reflecting off of the white surfaces I will need to paint the inside of my frames to avoid this which I have not done here.

The wooden frame which will hold my digitally enlarged and printed drawings was tricky to create. Seeing as it needed quite rounded edges, I was unable to nail or securely attach the corners before sanding them curved. Mere glue and luck held this together until it was finally complete and I could nail and solidify the piece. I will be sanding quite vigorously and giving it a fresh white glossy spray painting once finished.
The iPhone frame has been sanded smooth and spray painted with a white glossy paint. The ledge will be where I can attach my plexi-glass and digital printed image into place.

With this series I have continued to re-do quite a few of them to make each version flawless. I still need to find a better way of creating and representing a Lily for the final series. In total I have 11 but am considering choosing between which Dahlia (since there are two) to have a total of 10 for the final show, 10 being a nice even number.
